iPad Seized
The law enforcement people seized the iPad in Gizmodo’s Editor Jason Chen’s possession along with his Mac and more after he posted video and pics of future products. REACT ( Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer Team ) searched his home using a warrant issued by a Superior Court Judge in San Mateo, California. The validity of the search warrant is in question.
AndIThoughT© …….. that we are possibly in unchartered legal territory. It is an interesting intersection of laws regarding the IP Rights of the IP owners and the Rights of a blogging journalist to freely publish the information.   AndIWondeR© …….. if the existing laws will suffice.
The US iPad sales so far has been impressive. The international launch of the product is delayed till late May. That has not stopped some people to buy it in US and take it along with them or get it shipped to them. That has created problems on airports and customs in some countries. These events have kept the iPad in the news as well.
South Korea and Israel reversed the previous decisions to ban the iPad. Officials in both countries had previously cited different concerns, including the effects on humans. The other concerns were of the compliance of technology and the WiFi standards applicable internationally and in their own countries.
